Photo dump

Geez, time is getting away from me fast these days...
So without any rhyme or reason, here are a few photos I found on the camera the other day.
Tried a new bread recipe. These were supposed to be bread bowls - to be hollowed out and used to serve soup in. I followed the recipe and the "bowls" were huge. I think I'll tweak the recipe a bit to suit our tastes more and make smaller rolls/bowls.

Another new to me recipe - peanut butter energy balls. Delicious and a healthy alternative when that sweet craving strikes.

With the garden pretty much done, the chickens are free ranging a lot more again. Of course they are happy not to be chased out of veggie beds all the time...

The hydrangeas had to be cut way this this spring and therefore started blooming way later than normal. We are still enjoying quite the show on those bushes.

Last weekend Greg and I drove a little ways to check out a greenway in our area. We wound up walking the 2 1/2 mile loop and plan on going back to check out the longer trail. It was a really nice trail and I enjoyed being out in nature like that.

I finished the little vest I'd been knitting (pics to follow, I still had to sew on the buttons and it's been raining a lot - not great picture weather) and Hannah requested a slouchy hat. My children don't ask for knitted things often, so when they do, I am more than happy to knit for them. Hannah picked out the yarn in the little yarn shop in Florence while we were there to tour the UNA campus. It'll keep her warm and be a nice reminder of the day we spent there together.

  2. Those bread bowls look nice---I've always meant to try them.

I love finding nice little trails to explore. Autumn is such a nice time to be out in the woods-the bugs are finally giving it up!!

    1. I am very happy to share the recipe. :-) I have been using "shakology" lately and this is one of their snack recipes. I'm not sure how the recipe will taste without it, but I'm sure it'll be fine.
1 1/2 scoops (or a single serve packet) vanilla shakology
      1/2 cup almond flour
      1/2 cup old fashioned oats
      1/4 cup almond butter
      1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
      1/4 cup sliced, raw almonds
Combine shakology, almond flour and oats, mix well. Add almond butter and milk and mix until it forms a thick batter. Roll into 15 balls - it will be sticky. Roll in chopped almonds, store in fridge.
With the shakology added, each ball has 80 calories.

  6. The bread for your bowls to look big, but they look perfectly amazing too! I wish I could grow hydrangeas down here; they are so gorgeous. The slouchy hat is lovely....can hardly believe you're touring colleges now. *sigh*
