This, that and the other...

Some snapshots from our week:
Gluten free quinoa blueberry muffins. Been experimenting with a few gluten free recipes and I think this one's a keeper.

Bilder von der vergangenen Woche:
Gluten freie Quinoa Blaubeer Muffins.
Lunch one day. Swiss chard topped with a fried egg.

One of the daily garden harvests. Love the beets!

Taegliche Ernte, ich liebe rote Beete!
Looked up some recipes for collard greens the other day and found one for collard chips. They are fantastic! The smaller leaves get almost paper thin, but they are so good!

Almost done with the shawl! The last couple of rows have been giving me fits and I really want to be finished with it now.

Couldn't resist and ordered yarn. :-) Look at all those pretty colors! Some of the yarn is meant for a hitofude cardigan, the rest was just pretty and my wanter was on. ;-) I'm going to knit some socks first though...

I was almost out of homemade soap and it was time to make a new batch. For this one I decided to infuse the water with wild berry tea, honeysuckle and mint. I always hope the soap will stay that beautiful color, but it never does.

See how the color changes? At the last minute I also decided to add some dried mint to the soap, we'll see how that works out when it's cured.

Had a very special surprise in the mail on Friday. Dianna and her wonderful hubby surprised me with a knitting book and this awesome handmade owl puzzle. Isn't is gorgeous? Thank you Dianna and Carroll, it is very special and so are both of you!!

Friday night we went downtown because we thought the arts stroll was taking place. Well, whatever website gave me the information was wrong. They had bunches of food trucks but the arts stroll will be next Friday. We did wind up staying, walking around the pond, people watching, listening to live music...

Today we went to see some friends of ours at their camping site. They had brought their jet ski out and Nadia was able to take it for a spin. She had a blast!! She's mentioned several time since coming home that we should go to the lake more often. ;-)

                                                       (Hier ist diesen Sonntag Vatertag.)

  1. dianna and her husband are lovely! What a generous gift :) I like the look of those muffins and it looks like you've been eating lots of greens (healthy!). I'm inspired to do the same now. Happy father's day to your husband!

    1. It is so nice to be able to just walk into the backyard and pick something for lunch. Now if only the tomatoes would ripen... I have a feeling this will not be a good year for tomatoes for us. :-(

  3. I love the colors of your yarn, Anke. And you are inspiring me to experiment with my dehydrator. I think I'll try to make some kale chips that way. You are most welcome, my friend. We had so much fun planning a surprise for you. :)

    1. I do adore the owl and the book has the most wonderful patterns! There are several things that I would cast on right now if I had the right yarn! It was really easy using the dehydrator for the collard chips. Let me know how it works for the kale chips.

  4. Goodness you do have a lot going on! I still haven't tried soap making, I'm having difficulty in finding the lye locally and I'm trying not be order things on-line at the moment! Do you use tallow or vegetable oil in yours?
I have posted the 'nutella' recipe in the comments section of my blog - hope you enjoy it!

    1. This recipe used coconut oil and olive oil. It is actually called "grocery store soap" because you can find all the ingredients (except the lye) in the grocery store. I bought my lye from essential depot online. I bought several bottles and after making several batches of soap, I am still using the first bottle. Great buy! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

  5. Wow. Your garden is producing some lovely food! The soap looks so great to me...something I've not really tried to do on my own. We rode wave runners in the ocean last month; SO much fun!!!!
