Weekending

Scenes from our weekend:
Hannah wanted to bake a birthday cake for someone special. She did all of the baking, just needed a little help with the frosting.
She got the idea from (where else) Pinterest. We had some problems getting the cone to stay put, so we wound up putting a skewer underneath it.
I pressure washed the pool area and spruced it up with this new seating arrangement.
The weather was perfect for swimming and hanging out with friends - even if somebody didn't want her picture taken. ;-)
Greg added a new gate to our fence in the back. There is a wooded area behind our property and every once in a while we need to get back there. Now we don't have to walk all the way around anymore!
Ribs for lunch on Sunday! We invited our neighbor over, Hannah's friend was going to eat with us, so we wanted to make sure we had enough and a variety. Two slabs are from our local "meat guy", but to be on the safe side, Greg went and bought another slab at publix. We used three different rubs on them to see which ones we'd like best. (They were all delicious!)
I did find plenty of time to knit this weekend as well. While watching a movie Saturday night and while we had a nice rain shower Sunday afternoon. Nice and relaxing...
So richtig schoen gemuetlich...

  1. lovely shawl! is it color affection?? Now isn't nice to have a gate? I'm amazed how we live without and once we have whatever it is we instantly ask how we did without it! Lovely pool area, so pretty and relaxing :)

  2. Geez, Anke-can you cram anymore into a day? You're a bundle of energy and it seems your daughter is following in your footsteps .
The cake looks wonderful. But it's too cold here for a swim!
    Have a good week

  3. I love the cake, that is such a cute idea and what a sweet daughter you have Anke.
I wish we had a pool, especially since we will see 100 degrees this week, but being only 3 feet above sea level just won't allow it on my land.
I love your color affection! I really need to cast one on too.
Thank you for such a kind compliment on my photos, I do want to turn some into note cards to give as gifts.

  6. Hannah did a SUPER job on that cake! I know how much you appreciate the gate that Greg put on the fence in the back! Carroll put two in next to the house and then at the lower drive way there is a larger one so he can pull the truck inside. They are a blessing!
