Cool weather = more baking

I can't be the only one who enjoys baking (more than normal) when the weather turns colder. Not only does it help heat the house some, I just love baked goods. :-)
For a birthday luncheon at work last week, I was asked to bring homemade bread. So happy to oblige....
Since the "theme" was Thanksgiving foods, I brought pumpkin biscuits and rolls.
Ich denke mal das ich nicht die Einzige bin die gerne (mehr als sonst) backt wenn es kaelter draussen wird. Nicht nur das es hilft das Haus etwas zu waermen, ich liebe selbstgebackene Sachen. :-)
Letzte Woche hatten wir mal wieder ein Geburtstagsessen auf der Arbeit, und ich wurde gebeten selbstgebackenes Brot mitzubringen. Mach ich natuerlich gerne...
Das das "Thema" Thanksgiving war, habe ich Kuerbis "biscuits und Broetchen mitgebracht.
 I specifically went searching for a soft roll recipe, and even though these were very good, they were not "soft rolls". They were also huge! The recipe said it makes 16 rolls, so that is what I did. They would be great for sandwich type rolls, but not really dinner rolls.
Ich hatte mich extra auf die Suche nach einem "weichen" Broetchen Rezept gemacht, und obwohl sie lecker waren, waren sie nicht wirklich weich. Gedacht waren diese Broetchen als Beilage zum Essen, von der Groesse her waren sie aber eher fuer belegte Broetchen gedacht.
 I found another recipe for dinner rolls and these were a huge hit with my family!! They were amazingly easy to make (dough in the bread maker) and I think we'll have these with our Thanksgiving meal. Delicious!!
Ich habe noch ein Rezept fuer "dinner rolls" gefunden und dies kam bei meiner Familie total gut an! Sie waren super einfach zu machen (den Teig habe ich im Brotbackautomaten gemacht) und ich denke ich werde sie fuer Thanksgiving wieder backen. Lecker!!
 The first batch of Christmas cookies. They were supposed to be cinnamon hearts with raspberry jam filling, but since I didn't have raspberry, I made them with blueberry jam.
Das erste Rezept Weihnachtsplaetzchen wurde heute gebacken. Eigentlich sollten es Himbeer - Zimt Herzen sein, da ich aber keine Himbeermarmelade hatte, wurden es Blaubeer - Zimt Herzen.
 A new bread recipe:Sourdough Parmesan pepper bread. I hope it's tasty, it sure looks and smells good.
Ein neues Brotrezept:Sauerteig Parmesan Pfeffer Brot. Es riecht lecker, sieht gut aus, ich hoffe es schmeckt uns allen auch.

  1. Oh my--we like a lot of the same things.
    I made a Parmesan Peppercorn bread that took me a bit to "tweak" just right, but it was heavenly.
    The dinner rolls I make are very soft --hubby calls them "poofy rolls" . Just google World's Best Dinner Rolls--I think it's from best bites.
    Anywho--I think winter is wonderful for all the baking. I don't think my oven has been off for a whole day yet! Have a wonderful week

  2. You are an awesome baker. The breads and cookies look amazing. If it ever cools off here; I'll let you know. :) Lolo baked some sweet muffins tonight….and sadly it did heat up the house. :(

  4. I bet your house smells heavenly with all that creative baking! When the temps get cold I knit. I like to not be in the kitchen a lot :)

  5. Ummm, it all looks so good! (How do you manage to stay so slim when you bake so many wonderful goodies!) I love the look of those heart cookies with the fruit jam filling.
