And we're done...

The guys came this morning to finish up with the flooring. All they had left to do was cut and nail down the shoe molding, which took them about 2 hours.
I was READY to get the furniture back in place!! I painted the trim and with Hannah's and Nadia's help moved all the furniture back into the rooms.
This picture looks a bit dark, but it shows the view of the room if you were to enter from the hallway.

I just love how light the dining room looks now! Amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do. :-)

The hallway to the left with the new flooring. :-)

Der Flur nach rechts...
Pictures of the living room will have to follow later...
Bilder vom Wohnzimmer kommen spaeter nach...

  2. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL, Anke! Do you feel as if your house is a lot "lighter" with the carpet gone and the lighter color of the wood flooring? Love your dining room as well...so airy and light. Is the larger piece of furniture in the dining room a piece from Germany? It is gorgeous! Happy for you, my friend!

    1. Yes Dianna, I feel as if the house is soooo much lighter with the carpet gone. Now I just wish all the carpet could disappear. ;-) The large piece of furniture is from Germany and belonged either to my great grandparents or my grandmothers sister. It used to be stained with cows blood (that's how they used to do it) and we had it stripped and refinished. We had the drawer added at the bottom and shelves installed so it could be used as a china cabinet. What looks like a crack (right at the top, over the "home" sign) is actually where you could take it apart into two pieces, to make it easier to move. Very smart design!

    1. Dankeschoen Regina.
