Success is not final, failure is not fatal - it is the courage to continue that counts.

Louisville, Kentucky mini marathon

I spent the weekend with a great bunch of women, running the Louisville Kentucky 1/2 marathon.
It was a little chilly to get started, but for running it was the perfect weather.
This 1/2 marathon I was able to run the first six miles, but then my knee started hurting. I tried alternating running and walking for the next three miles, but then had to quit running. Nevertheless, I finished the 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 36 minutes.
We heard there were between 15000 and 17000 people there for the race.
We took some time out at Churchill Downs to take a few pictures. We figured we might never get the opportunity again.

We checked out the Troll Pub that evening. :-) Saw it after the race and thought it might be a good place - which it was.
A fun night was had by all. ;-)
War ein toller Abend. ;-)

  3. It looks as if everyone enjoyed this time together! I'm really sorry to hear that your knee started bothering you...and yet you still made good time, especially with having to alternate walking and running for a while. You are an inspiration, Anke!

    1. Thank you Dianna. :-) I've always had knee problems, but lately it's been bothering me a bit more. I'm thinking about getting a knee brace to see if that helps - not willing to quit just jet. ;-)

    1. Suz, when we started out (February of last year) I couldn't even run 1/2 a mile. It's been quite the journey, but it's been a good one. :-)
