Cooking, baking and canning...

Been saving all the "foodie" pictures for one post. ;-)
Here's some of what's been going on in the kitchen:
I made these little treats as a fourth of July dessert. Needless to say they were gobbled up quickly.
Hier wieder mal ein paar Bilder vom Geschehen in unserer Kueche.
Diese Erdbeeren waren der Nachtisch am 4. Juli. Einfach in weisse Schokolade und danach in blauen Zucker getaucht. Waren ganz schnell aufgegessen. ;-)
Beer butt chicken, need I say more?
"Beer butt chicken", hat lecker geschmeckt. Auch wenn's hier lustig aussieht...
Harvested the last of the green onions and froze them all - forgot to take a picture of the after...
The other day I came up with a quick homemade version of pizza pockets. Homemade whole wheat dough, filled with a sausage/ground beef mixture, pizza sauce and cheese. The girls already came up with different things to fill the pockets with - so we will definitely make these again.
We've been getting plenty of tomatoes and besides eating a ton of them, I've canned a batch of salsa as well.
Went to Isom's farm stand twice so far to get some delicious peaches for us. We love eating them, but I also wanted to can some as treats for the winter. This is a batch of peaches in a cinnamon infused syrup.
Another batch of peaches in plain, light syrup.
This batch of pizza sauce was canned today. With all the rain we've been having (it was sooo needed here) a lot of the tomatoes were splitting on the vines. I was afraid they would all rot, so I decided to can them.
Nadia finally had her pool birthday party yesterday. For her cake she requested a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, decorated with blueberries and strawberries.
She also requested a cheesecake. For one thing she really likes cheesecake and also one of her friends was allergic to chocolate. It really was way to much cake, but I gave some to a neighbor and we'll have some to enjoy for the next few days... :-)

  2. Good gracious, you have been busy! All our tomatoes are splitting also, but I refuse to complain about the rain so we are just picking everyday and using them up. I'll be making salsa and Rotel tomatoes this week.

  3. LOVE all of the gorgeous food pics, Anke! You've been a busy lady. Seeing all that you've been doing with your tomatoes makes me excited for ours to ripen! I'm cooking our first green beans of the season today! I like the sound of the cinnamon infused syrup for the peaches. Share your recipe?

You come up with such creative ways to do things. Love the topping on Nadia's birthday cake! And that cheesecake looks scrumptious!

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. Thank you Dianna. :-) The cinnamon peaches are a German recipe, I'll translate it for you though and mail it to you. Nadia's cake was really rich and yummy and the cheesecake so light and airy. I just added a sour creme topping since the top was cracked and I wanted it to look pretty.
