In the kitchen with Hannah

These past few days Hannah has been really interested in helping out in the kitchen. It might have something to do with a new point system the girls came up with (to earn extra money or rewards), but hey, they are both helping out a lot more without me having to ask.
She made soup one day for lunch, waffles to be frozen for those quick breakfasts, and today she made fruit smoothies.
They were made out of bananas, blueberries, plums, mandarin oranges a bit of honey and plain yoghurt. They were delicious and now Hannah wants to try and turn the smoothies into popsicles. Guess I know what we'll be doing tomorrow. :-)
About the point system: The girls came up with it, decided on the points and the rewards. They both have daily/weekly chores and these are extras they don't have to do on a daily basis.
For instance: sweeping the porch = 10 points, cooking = 10 points, vacuuming = 10 points, empty the dishwasher = 5 points and so on. They can exchange the points for extra money, x number of points = x amount of dollars or save them for special privileges or treats. Nadia came up with 200 points = stay up an hour late on the weekend. Hannah came up with 200 points = be able to text one hour longer on the weekend. (Her phone has to be turned off at 9:00 which she's not too happy about.) Again, the girls came up with the chores, with the points and with the rewards. There are several more rewards they will be able to earn, I just wanted to give you an idea.

  1. I love that you make her turn off her phone at 9PM. Nothing good happens after that hour anyway.
Have a great weekend. I think I'll go get a Smoothie now. m.

  5. We do the point system too! I just started it last year while hubby was deployed. It seemed that they were fighting more than usual, not doing as asked, etc and I hated to yell at them all the time, I knew part of their acting up was because of the deployment, but also it's pointless to argue with a 7 & 5 year old LOL. Instead they knew they could earn things with the points and the chart was right on the door so it inspired them to "be good" for me the whole while they were just doing things to get an allowance or a privilege LOL!
