Success is not final, failure is not fatal - it is the courage to continue that counts.

Is this week over yet?

It has been one of those weeks, where you just want to crawl back into bed and try again in a few days...
It all started early last week with Nadia complaining about a sore throat. Thankfully it only lasted two days for her. By Friday, I was the one with a sore throat. The weekend was the worst, but by Monday I felt a lot better. That's when Hannah started complaining about her throat hurting. By Tuesday morning, she had a temperature of 100.6. Needless to say, she stayed home from school and we went to the doctor. Since we were already going, I thought I might as well have them check out my throat "situation". The doctor did a strep test for me, but told me it didn't look like I had it - just a sore throat. Hannah was checked out, they did a strep test and we were told it's a virus. Off we went... On Wednesday morning Hannah was wheezing, couldn't breathe and had a temperature of 101.6! Back to the doctor again... I'm always worried about her wheezing like that, since she already had pneumonia three times! They did more test and said her lungs were clear and she's just extremely congested. She was given an inhaler and is supposed to use it until it all clears up.
We left the doctor, got back home and I had a message on the answering machine from the doctor I had seen on Tuesday. Turns out, I do have strep and need to go back to the doctor today to pick up meds for myself. That's three trips to the doctor in as many days!
And if you're wondering about Hannah, my poor baby had a temperature of 102.6 last night!!
Drei Arztbesuche in drei Tagen!

The pictures are totally unrelated to this, but I had to have something pretty to look at...

  1. I'm so sorry that you all have been having so much illness. I'll be praying for everyone. I know how concerned you would be with Hannah's temperature continuing to elevate rather than coming down. Please let her know I'm praying for her. Hopefully with the weekend coming up everyone can get some extra rest and have a better week next week.

Hugs to you and the girls,
    Dianna

  4. Strep is not fun, by any means. I had it a few times in the course of a year. It felt like I was swallowing razor blades. Get lots of rest and I hope you're all feeling better very soon!

  11. When it rains it pours! I hope all of you are better real soon. Everyone around here are happy since I can't talk, just this squeaky sounding thing! Not that I talk that much....haha. They probably don't want to be around me anyway since I tried this recipe from The Herb Quarterly magazine...tomato juice, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and a teaspoon of fresh garlic for my cold. Tastes great though.
    Get better soon.
    Take Care,
    Ulrike

  16. I bet when they retest Hannah, she will have a strep too. Did they put her on an antibiotic?

  17. Sarita, they did two strep tests on Hannah. The "quick" test came back negative and so did the one that took two days. She's not on antibiotics either. Her fever has been down during the day, and we'll have to see how she does during the night again...

  18. Holy crap you guys are unlucky! :-o

I hope the little one's fever went down, that's both terrible and dangerous... I'm amazed the doctor seemed so unconcerned :-/

Are the meds helping you feel better?

Waiting for news, am worried now.

  19. Anke, I am glad to hear that Hannah's temp has went down. If her temp should go back up or redness in back of throat or if she develops white spots on throat, please take her back.
When the temp goes over 102, usually it is a bacterial infection...sinus infection, ear infection or some form of upper respiratory infection. Doctors don't hand out antibiotics anymore and that is a good thing but after 3-4 days of high temps, it is time for an antibiotic.
Hope you all feel well soon. I will pray for you all.
    God Bless
