Mandarin cheesecake

We have a Birthday celebration at work tomorrow. We will celebrate everybody that has a September Birthday in one day, instead of doing several small affairs. Tomorrow we will have Lasagna and baked spaghetti delivered and everybody will bring a side dish. I chose to bring dessert and decided to make a Mandarin cheesecake. It's a recipe I got from a German friend, but I converted it into cup measurements.
Auf der Arbeit feiern wir morgen alle, die im September Geburtstag haben. Anstatt einige kleine Feiern zu haben, wird einmal anstaendig gefeiert. Fuer morgen haben sie Lasagne und gebackene Spagetti bestellt. Jeder bringt eine Beilage mit und ich habe beschlossen einen Nachtisch mitzubringen. Habe mich fuer einen Kaesekuchen mit Mandarinenstueckchen entschieden This is the vanilla sauce and the clear glaze I used. I buy mine in the commissary, but some of the "nicer" grocery stores carry it as well.
This is the finished product. I've made it before and it is VERY GOOD.
So sieht mein fertiger Kaesekuchen aus. Ich habe ihn schon oefter gebacken und er ist super lecker.


For the crust:
Fuer den Boden:
7 tbs soft butter 100 g weiche Butter
2 eggs 2 Eier
3/4 cup sugar 150 g Zucker
2 1/2 cups flour 375 g Mehl
3 tsp baking powder 1 Pckg Backpulver
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, flour and baking powder. Mix until smooth. Spray large and deep baking sheet with pam and flatten dough onto sheet and up the sides.
Die Butter mit dem Zucker verruehren, die Eier, das Mehl und Backpulver hinzugeben. Zu einem glatten Teig verarbeiten und auf dem Backblech verteilen.

For the cheesecake:
Fuer die Kaesemasse:
4 3/4 cups "Quark" (yogurt cheese) * 1 Kilo Quark
1 cup sourcreme 1 Becher Sauerrahm
4 eggs 4 Eier
1/3 cup + 1 tbls oil 100 ml Oel
1 3/4 cups sugar 375 g Zucker
1 1/2 Pck. vanilla sauce 1 1/2 Packg. Vanillesosse
2 cups milk 1/2 l Milch
Mix all ingredients until smooth and pour over crust.
Alle Zutaten gut verruehren und ueber den Boden geben.

Drain 2 (15 oz) cans of mandarin oranges and arrange on cake. Bake at 350 for 45 min. to 1 hour.

2 grosse Dosen Mandarinen abgiessen und gleichmaessig auf den Kuchen legen. Bei 175 fuer 45 Minuten - 1 Stunde backen.

Glaze according to package directions.
Mit Tortenguss klar ueberziehen.


* Since I'm having a very hard time finding "Quark" or yogurt cheese, I make my own. I buy plain yogurt, line a sieve with cheesecloth and drain off the liquid over night. I save the liquid for other recipes, but the resulting Quark is very good. For this recipe I had to buy 3 (2 pound) containers of yogurt. I did have some leftover, but love to eat that plain, or with fresh herbs chopped and added.
